Celebrate ten years of the UWM LGBT Resource Center – 5:30 tonight

All within the UWM campus community are invited to tonight’s LGBT+ and Allied Student Reception to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the UWM LGBT Resource Center. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Union Fireside Lounge, and features remarks from UWM Chancellor Michael R. Lovell, Vice Chancellor Michael Laliberte and others. LGBT Resource Center Director Jen Murray will serve as the event’s emcee.

UWM LGBT Resource CenterLast year, UWM was named the No. 12 “gay-friendliest” campus in the nation by The Daily Beast, in association with Newsweek.

The UWM LGBT Resource Center was founded in 2002 to increase awareness, education and presence of LGBT+ issues on the UWM campus. The center serves as a safe space for all LGBT+ students and their allies, and as a resource for students and community members wanting to learn about and advocate for LGBT+ topics.

The UWM LGBT Resource Center extends gratitude for the other event co-sponsors and supporters: oSTEM at UWM (Out in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), and the UWM LGBT Campus Partners.

LGBT Studies Certificate Program Coordinator Cary Gabriel Costello; Graduate Student Noel Mariano; and Nicholas Coley, acting oSTEM president, also will offer remarks.
