Riedy Resignation Letter

July 3, 2013

Dear Robin:

Please know that I write this letter with conflicting emotions and the utmost sincerity.

Accepting the Associate Vice Chancellor for University Information Technology Services (“UITS”) position at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee was one of the proudest moments of my life. Since mid-April, I have been diligently and enthusiastically transitioning into the role. To date, my corresponding actions include: resigning from the North Dakota University System, selling my Grand Forks home, visiting the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, reading background information and communicating with staff via email and phone. The experience has been thoroughly enjoyable.

As I have stated many times and discovered firsthand, the quality and dedication of staff at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is a distinguishing factor. From strong executive leadership, including you, as well as Chancellor Lovell and others, through UITS management and staff, the institution is truly blessed. It is my appreciation for these individuals that compels me to be forthright with not only you but myself as well.

Since April circumstances have changed considerably for me. Thus after much contemplation and soul searching, in the best interest of my family, at this time my place is in North Dakota. Correspondingly I believe it prudent for me not to assume the full-time role of Associate Vice Chancellor for UITS. Regretfully, I must resign effective immediately.

While I fully acknowledge the magnitude of this decision and lament the impact it may have on UITS staff, it is the right thing for me to do.

I am grateful for the opportunity and the kindness that was demonstrated to me and my family. By the same token, I am sorry for any inconvenience my actions may cause.

Thanks for your time and consideration. Respectfully,

Joshua M. Riedy
