Milwaukee-area LGBT+ Faculty/Staff Winter Gathering
Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 p.m.
Kick off 2014 with our fabulous community of UWM and other Milwaukee-area college and university LGBTQIA+ faculty/staff members at this social gathering held at a private home off-campus.
The last time that the UWM LGBT+ Faculty/Staff Caucus hosted a winter party, over 60 employees weathered the cold to join in the fun. Let’s see if we can beat that number at this year’s gathering! Please share this with Higher Ed colleagues in the Milwaukee area so people learn about the party, and be sure to let others know that you’ll be attending as a way to inspire them to join us!
Spouses, partners, and significant others are welcome, as are straight allies (who don’t have to be accompanied by a queer colleague to attend).
This event is an appetizers and desserts potluck. It is not a requirement that you bring a food contribution. Non-alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, and a basic bar will be provided, but if you have a favorite libation you are welcome to bring it. If you are willing to donate party supplies, want to help with set-up, or if you have questions, contact either Jeff Guenther at firstname.lastname@example.org or 414/334-0620, or Cathy Seasholes at 414/229-2852, 262/352-1890 or email@example.com.
To help organizers anticipate attendance numbers, please RSVP through the Evite link below, directly to Jeff or Cathy, or by asking a colleague to RSVP on your behalf if you prefer not to leave an electronic footprint. The Evite Guest List is hidden, and all responses to the event will be kept confidential out of respect for the diverse needs of our community and a desire to create a safe space for our community to socialize.
Don’t let the location deter you from attending — instead, START THE PARTY EARLY by CARPOOLING! This event is being held at a home in the rural part of Mequon, about a half hour drive northwest of UWM, so consider sharing the ride with colleagues. If you need a ride, or if you have seats available in your vehicle, please indicate this in the comment section of your Evite RSVP response. We’re committed to making this event accessible to all, so offers to help colleagues get to & from the party are greatly appreciated.
**Note: There are no street lights in the area so you might want to bring a flashlight to supplement the torches we’ll have along the driveway. Parking in the driveway is reserved for those with mobility or sight needs. Others are encouraged to park on the street.
