2014 Women Leaders Conference

The Marine Corps’ first African-American female combat pilot and an Olympic medalist will highlight the 2014 Women Leaders Conference on Friday, April 4, at the Pfister Hotel, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave.

Hosted by the UWM School of Continuing Education, the conference will celebrate women who have pioneered their fields and who have discovered their own methods for success. Attendees will learn from these accomplished women, discovering what inspires them and harnessing the energy to empower themselves. More than 400 people attended last year’s event.

Before she served two tours of duty with the Marine Corps in Iraq, morning keynote speaker Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour was a police officer. Luncheon speaker Dara Torres is a multiple Olympic medalist swimmer, author and television commentator.

Speakers from Milwaukee and around the United States will lead breakout sessions, including Being the Leader Others Want to Follow; Innovation; Leadership – the Native American Perspective; Managing Conflict; Managing Overwhelm; Navigating Your Career; Networking Across Generations; Non-Profit Know-How; Owning Your Online Reputation; Personal Branding; What Women Need to Know About Money; and When to Take a Chance.
