Helene Fischman: Artist’s Talk
“Art From the Ashes: Finding Light in the Shadow of the Shoah”

Helene Fischman, MFA candidate in the UWM Department of Art & Design, will discuss her work and experiences from two artist’s residencies in former Nazi concentration camps at Terezín/Terezinstadt, Czech Republic, and Oświęcim/Auschwitz, Poland, and how these experiences inform her current research and work at UWM.

Her talk is presented in association with an exhibition of work from these residencies, “Art from the Ashes: Finding Light in the Shadow of the Shoah” on view in the Golda Meir Library’s 4th Floor Exhibition Gallery through May 30, 2014.
