The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) is eager to announce its PANTHERFEST 2014 headlining acts. Timeflies and Juicy J will perform for UWM’s largest annual event, on Friday, Sept. 5 at the Marcus Amphitheater.
The two artists were chosen by popular demand by UWM students and also in part by a student- and staff-run planning group. An entertainment survey sent via student email and university social media in late May resulted in more than 8,000 responses.
For the second consecutive year, the Panther Street Festival kicks off the official PANTHERFEST festivities on Sept. 5 at 3 p.m. at the iconic UWM fountain. The Street Festival includes activities for students at no cost such as bumper cars, mini golf, henna tattoos and an interactive arcade. Food is provided to students who bring their UWM student ID.
Following the Street Festival, ticketholders can take a free shuttle from campus to the Summerfest grounds. Marcus Amphitheater gates will open by 7 p.m.
PANTHERFEST’s first headliner, Juicy J, is a rapper, songwriter and producer originally from North Memphis, Tenn. Juicy J recently announced that his fourth album is set for release this year. Following will be Timeflies, an American music duo out of New York City. Formed in 2010, Timeflies rapidly gained popularity through both freestyle covers and original music, along with their weekly YouTube uploads called “Timeflies Tuesdays”.
Every UWM student can receive one free ticket to PANTHERFEST. Student tickets will be available starting Aug. 28 in the UWM Union concourse. Faculty, staff, alumni and additional student ticket information will be released at pantherfest.uwm.edu.
PANTHERFEST wraps up Fall Welcome 2014. Fall Welcome kicks off Monday, Aug. 25 and features activities intended to welcome students to UWM and the city of Milwaukee. Students are exposed to campus life, resources and organizations at UWM during this event. A full calendar of events for Fall Welcome 2014 can be found at fallwelcome.uwm.edu.
