UWM will celebrate the inauguration of its ninth chancellor, Mark Mone, on Friday, Oct. 2. “No one is better positioned to handle the challenges the university faces than Chancellor Mone,” said David Misky, president of the UWM Alumni Association Board of Trustees. “He has incredible support within the university, but he also has a wonderful relationship with business. Both of these relationships will be incredibly useful.”

The Milwaukee Brewers surprised UWM students Wednesday with an impromptu tailgate party in Spaights Plaza. “We were just chilling in the Union and we saw all this commotion,” said junior Samantha Ostrowski, who was joined by her sister Nicole Ostrowski, a sophomore, in the crowd of students gathered in the plaza. “There’s a lot of people, and I got a free bobble head.”

Democrat Hillary Clinton is the latest presidential candidate to visit UWM, joining a list that includes Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. Her appearance gave students about to vote in their first election an up-close look at presidential politics. “I’m pretty excited to take part in the democratic process,” freshman Neil McClaine said.
